Learned today about an open-source command line image denoising and interpolation tool named GREYCstoration. Its new version (2.5) has just been released and the examples of what it can do look really impressive. The tool is not only capable of removing the noise from various types of images, but it can also be used to perform certain types of image restoration, like removing a bird cage or a text written on top of a photograph, and to create certain artistic effects. Update: Precompiled binaries are only available for Mac OS X machines on PPC platform. Sigh...
